On January 1, 2017, police were transporting Charles from California State Prison in Corcoran to Mercy Hospital in downtown Bakersfield. He was experiencing gastrointestinal bleeding at the time. He was also too weak to perform the surgery, so he returned to jail on January 6th.

On November 15, 2017, it was revealed that he was in a hospital in Bakersfield due to health issues. On November 19, 2017, he died in the hospital from natural causes.

His father’s name is William Manson, and his mother was a prostitute named Kathleen Maddox. His mother was only sixteen years old when he was born.

Initially, the murderer committed a burglary at a grocery store, and since then, Charles has been continuously present in various burglary cases. Then he was arrested and taken to an Indianapolis juvenile detention center.

Authorities eventually took him to Washington, D.C.’s ‘National Training School for Boys,’ where he served for four years.

In October 1951, he was transferred to the ‘Natural Bridge Honor Camp,’ from which he was transferred to the ‘Federal Reformatory’ in Virginia for his offensive behavior.

Authorities took him to the ‘Federal Reformatory’ at Chillicothe once more in September 1952. He was a model inhabitant there, behaving well and improving his academics, which led to his exoneration in May 1954.

He drove to Los Angeles the following year in a car he stole in Ohio. Authorities then charged him with a federal crime and sentenced him to 5 years in prison. He was arrested in Indianapolis in March 1956 for failing to appear earlier.

Authorities charged him again in September 1959 for attempting to cash a forged United States Treasury check. He was then sentenced to ten years in prison while Leona was pleading for his release in court. However, the cops disagreed on his route from California to New Mexico.

Soon after, he vanished after gaining his freedom, and a bench warrant was issued. Then, in Laredo, Texas, police apprehended him and sentenced him to ten years in prison for attempting to cash the cast cheque.

In 1961, he was transferred from the ‘Los Angeles County Jail’ to the United States Penitentiary at McNeil Island. He went to Berkeley, California, after being released from prison on March 21, 1967, to earn money by begging.

There, he met Mary Brunner and began living with her. He formed a group after establishing himself as San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury’s “guru.”

He was on his way to various locations in the United States in an old school bus. After a while, the group went to Dennis Wilson’s house. The team was known as the ‘Manson Family,’ and it consisted of about a hundred members who regularly used hallucinogenic drugs.

In 1968, the group visited Spahn’s Movie Ranch and then Death Valley in Eastern California.
