According to the police report, when they arrived on the scene, Gradoville was lying in the yard of a house with multiple gunshot wounds. Omaha Fire Department medics pronounced him dead at the scene.
In an update around 9:30 a.m., OPD reported that they had a man in custody and were not looking for any additional suspects. They did, however, add that they were still in contact with witnesses.
Police later identified Ladell Thornton, 43, as the suspect in custody. He is charged with first-degree murder, using a weapon to commit a crime, and illegally possessing a firearm. Thornton was booked into the Douglas County Jail.
